Christophe Pichon
Christophe Pichon
Domaine Christophe Pichon is a family estate located in Chavanay, at the foot of the steep slopes of the northern Rhône Valley. The estate’s history spans three generations, with a key milestone in 1987 when Christophe joined the family domaine, then composed of 2 hectares in Condrieu and 1 hectare in Saint-Joseph. Since then, the estate has expanded significantly across the region’s great appellations, including Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Cornas.
On these steep hillside vineyards, where mechanisation is often impossible, vineyard work requires constant attention and great precision. Pruning, soil management, canopy work and harvesting are carried out with meticulous care, often entirely by hand on the most demanding plots. This level of dedication, far from being a constraint, has become a defining feature of the estate, reflecting Christophe Pichon’s deep connection to his terroirs and his commitment to producing wines that are precise, elegant and true to their origin.
In the cellar, Christophe Pichon focuses on precision, balance and elegance. Vinifications are carefully managed, and ageing in oak barrels is finely calibrated to enhance complexity without overshadowing the terroir. The Condrieu wines are known for their aromatic richness, silky texture and vibrant Viognier character, while the reds express the full nobility of Syrah, combining black fruit, spice, violet notes, controlled power and remarkable finesse.
