Domaine De La Motte
Domaine De La Motte
Domaine de la Motte, located in Beine near Chablis, is a family-owned estate passed down through three generations. In the 1950s, Henri Michaut planted the first vines, laying the foundation for a domaine now led by his grandson, Adrien Michaut. The vineyard covers around 53 hectares, producing Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Premier Cru wines, including the Beauroy and Vau Ligneau climats. The region’s typical Kimmeridgian and Portlandian soils offer a rich diversity that the estate showcases through precise vinification.
Ageing is carefully adapted to each cuvée. Stainless steel fermentation preserves freshness and tension, while select Chablis Vieilles Vignes and Premier Cru wines undergo discreet barrel ageing, often in lightly toasted oak. This measured approach enhances the wine’s complexity without overshadowing its mineral character, offering a nuanced and faithful expression of the terroir.
The wines stand out for their purity, delicate aromas of white flowers and citrus, and a saline finish that evokes the marine origins of the soil. The estate is HVE3 certified and a member of the Vignerons Indépendants, ensuring full control from vine to bottle.
