Domaine Jean Fournier
Domaine Jean Fournier
Founded over three centuries ago, Maison Jean Fournier is one of the historic estates of Marsannay, a flagship appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Taken over in the early 2000s by Laurent Fournier, representing the tenth generation, the estate has become a benchmark for precision and commitment to both organic and biodynamic viticulture. A telling anecdote of this dedication: as early as 2008, well before organic farming became widespread in Burgundy, the domaine made the bold choice to completely eliminate chemical herbicides, convinced that true quality begins with living soils. Today, the estate spans 16 hectares, mainly across Marsannay, Fixin, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
It is also one of the pioneers in elevating the reputation of Marsannay’s white wines, which express striking minerality and vibrant tension. The reds, crafted from massal selections of Pinot Noir, are vinified using a gentle infusion approach, with minimal extraction to preserve the natural finesse of the grape. The domaine’s signature style is rooted in minimal intervention, precise and subtle ageing, and a constant pursuit of balance. The resulting wines are sculpted, focused, and aromatically pure, faithful expressions of their terroirs, and a reflection of a demanding yet inspired winemaking philosophy.
