Domaine des Marrans
Located in Fleurie, at the heart of the Beaujolais crus, Domaine des Marrans is a family estate founded in 1970 by Jean-Jacques Mélinand. Today, the second generation continues the family adventure with Mathieu, who joined in 2009, followed by his brother Camille in 2019. The estate spans 20 hectares, across Fleurie, Chiroubles, Morgon, Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages and Beaujolais Blanc.
The story began with the 4-hectare Clos du Pavillon in Fleurie, before gradually expanding with new vineyard parcels. The vines are mainly planted on granite soils, particularly well suited to Gamay. The vineyards are farmed without chemical fertilisers, with careful attention to soil health, and the estate has been certified organic since the 2024 vintage.
The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted. In the cellar, whole-bunch vinification is carried out without commercial yeasts or added sulphur during fermentation. Carbonic maceration and gentle extraction produce fine, expressive wines that faithfully reflect the distinctive terroirs of Beaujolais.
