Domaine Sarrat De Goundy
Domaine Sarrat De Goundy
Domaine Sarrat de Goundy is located in Armissan, between Narbonne, the La Clape massif and the Mediterranean Sea, in a landscape shaped by maritime winds and southern sunlight. Founded in 1966 by Claude Calix, the estate is now managed by his son Olivier Calix, who continues with precision and dedication the development of this family property deeply rooted in the identity of Mediterranean terroirs. The vineyard covers around 50 hectares.
The parcels are planted on clay-limestone soils benefiting from a temperate maritime climate particularly favourable to slow and balanced grape ripening. The proximity to the sea brings freshness and finesse to the wines while preserving the aromatic intensity of Mediterranean grape varieties. Grenache, Syrah and Carignan express themselves here with elegance and balance, combining fruit, spice and freshness.
Domaine Sarrat de Goundy stands out for its gravity-flow winemaking system, still rare in the region, which avoids pumping in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the delicacy of the juices. Vinifications take place in concrete vats to maintain aromatic purity, followed by ageing in oak barrels and amphorae to bring complexity and refined tannins. The wines reveal notes of black fruits, garrigue and gentle spices in a style that is generous, precise and distinctly contemporary.
