Domaine Florence Alquier
In the heart of Faugères, on the foothills of the Cévennes within the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park, Domaine Florence Alquier is rooted in a winemaking history dating back to 1870. The Alquier family played an active role in the development of the appellation, notably through Gilbert Alquier, who planted some of the first massal-selection Syrah vines in the area during the 1960s and contributed to the recognition of Faugères as an AOP.
In 2017, a new chapter began when Florence Alquier, Frédéric Desplats and Denis Degros joined forces to develop the estate. The vineyard subsequently expanded from 10 to 20 hectares, entirely within the Faugères appellation. The vines thrive on the appellation’s distinctive schist soils, surrounded by Mediterranean scrubland and woodland.
Certified organic since 2020, the estate favours sustainable viticulture and precise, parcel-by-parcel winemaking. Carignan, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache produce expressive, elegant reds, while Marsanne, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc give fresh, mineral-driven whites. A distinctive signature combining family heritage, the character of schist and a constant pursuit of finesse.
