Domaine La Troupe
Rooted in Clessé, at the heart of the Viré-Clessé appellation, Domaine de la Troupe is part of the legacy of the Cave de la Vigne Blanche, founded in 1927 by winegrowers aiming to better showcase their terroir. Within this collective dynamic, the estate was created to highlight a more precise and distinctive expression of this part of the Mâconnais.
What sets the estate apart is its focus on a 5-hectare family-owned parcel of old vines, averaging around 60 years of age, planted on clay-limestone soils with an east to south-east exposure. The cuvée “Marie”, introduced in 2017, reflects this intention to reveal a more singular expression of local Chardonnay, with ageing on fine lees bringing texture and depth while preserving clarity and precision.
The wines stand out for their balance between generosity and precision, combining floral notes, ripe white fruit and a distinct mineral backbone. With their freshness, silky texture and aromatic intensity, they offer a refined yet approachable interpretation of Viré-Clessé, true to the character of the great white wines of the southern Mâconnais.
