Domaine Mouton Père et fils
Domaine Mouton Père et fils
Nestled in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Domaine Mouton Père et Fils is a story of family and tradition. For several generations, the Moutons have cultivated their vineyards with the same high standards, driven by a desire to preserve a legacy patiently built by their predecessors. Here, the craft of winemaking is not learned solely from books, but over the course of the seasons, through direct contact with the soil, the vines, and the Rhône’s sometimes capricious climate.
The estate spans approximately twelve hectares, spread across the valley’s characteristic hillsides, which are often worked by hand due to their steep slopes. This privileged geographical location, between the Rhône River, which moderates temperatures, and the hills that shield the vines from excessive winds, creates a microclimate conducive to the slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. The soils, a blend of granite, schist, and alluvial deposits, lend the wines depth, freshness, and aromatic complexity.
True to its family-run ethos, the estate prioritizes sustainable farming practices, with particular attention paid to soil management and yield control. The harvest is primarily done by hand to preserve the integrity of the grapes and select the best clusters. In the cellar, the approach is measured: guiding the wine rather than forcing it, to allow the terroir to express itself authentically.
