Domaine Defaix Bernard
Domaine Bernard Defaix is a family-run estate based in Milly, in the heart of the Chablis region in Burgundy. Founded in 1959 by Bernard Defaix, a fourth-generation winegrower, the estate began with just 2 hectares of vines, driven by a strong commitment to quality and independence. Over the decades, it has steadily expanded and now covers 27 hectares, including several renowned Chablis Premier Cru vineyards such as Côte de Léchet, Vaillons and Lys.
In the early 1960s, Bernard Defaix was among the first in the region to experiment with frost protection techniques, an essential innovation in Chablis that helped secure harvests and support the estate’s development.
Now in conversion to organic farming, the domaine combines deep respect for its Kimmeridgian terroirs with multi-generational expertise, crafting precise, mineral-driven wines that faithfully express the identity of Chablis.
