Domaine du Colombier

Domaine du Colombier

Domaine du Colombier is a family estate deeply rooted in the Chablis region since 1887, when the ancestors of the Mothe family planted the first vines and began producing their own wines. Since then, the estate has been passed down through generations, with Jean-Louis, Thierry and Vincent Mothe now continuing this family story with dedication and deep respect for the terroir.

The domaine covers around 55 hectares of vineyards planted exclusively with Chardonnay, representing all the emblematic expressions of Chablis: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The parcels, located around the historic villages of Fontenay-près-Chablis and Chichée, benefit from varied slopes and exposures that bring aromatic diversity, freshness and precision to the wines.

One of Domaine du Colombier’s defining features is its ability to evolve while remaining faithful to its roots. In the 1950s, Guy Mothe made the visionary decision to focus exclusively on Chardonnay, a choice that permanently shaped the identity of the estate and still contributes today to the reputation of its wines, recognised for their purity, mineral tension and classic Chablis elegance.
