Rijckaert Rouve

Rijckaert Rouve

Former winemaker at Maison Verget, Belgian-born Jean Rijckaert founded his own estate in 1998 in Leynes, in the southern Mâconnais. A true terroir enthusiast, he quickly developed a unique vision by bringing together two regions with strong identities: Burgundy and the Jura. Today, the estate covers around 9.5 hectares across Viré-Clessé, Saint-Véran and the Mâconnais, as well as Arbois and the Côtes du Jura.

One of the estate’s defining features is this dual interpretation of Chardonnay: Burgundian wines that are precise, mineral and tension-driven, alongside Jura cuvées offering greater depth, salinity and spicy complexity. Since 2013, Florent Rouve has continued the adventure while remaining faithful to Jean Rijckaert’s philosophy, pursuing the same search for freshness, precision and energy in the wines.

The vineyards are farmed without chemical herbicides, with soil ploughing, manual harvesting and preservation of indigenous yeasts. In the cellar, long lees ageing, mainly in older oak barrels, aims to enhance texture and balance rather than oak influence. The estate’s philosophy is simple: to produce vibrant, digestible wines that remain deeply connected to their terroir. A signature style that has become highly regarded among lovers of great character-driven white wines.
