Near Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the village of Prunay-le-Gillon, Domaine Machard de Gramont offers a slightly different take on Burgundy. Here, family heritage meets a more contemporary and free-spirited vision of winemaking, now led by Axelle Machard de Gramont.
The estate farms around 20 hectares of vineyards, spread across a wide range of appellations including Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Pommard and Aloxe-Corton. This mosaic of climats allows the domaine to explore many facets of Burgundy, from the northern Côte de Nuits to the slopes of the Côte de Beaune.
What truly sets the estate apart is a bold decision made early on: adopting biodynamic farming in the early 2000s, long before it became widely discussed in Burgundy. The goal was simple but demanding, to restore vitality to the soils and allow each terroir to express itself with greater clarity.
In the cellar, the approach remains restrained, with minimal intervention and a focus on balance.
In the glass, the wines reveal vibrant energy, purity and depth, offering a lively and expressive interpretation of Burgundy’s terroirs. Wines that move with finesse, but always with character.
