Presentation
Nestled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Gigognan is a prestigious estate that enjoys an exceptional terroir of rolled pebbles, sand, and deep clay. The Mediterranean climate further enhances the ripening of its emblematic grapes: Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The estate is certified organic and places great importance on sustainable vineyard practices and manual harvesting, ensuring high-quality grapes and healthy soils. In the winery, vinification is tailored to each parcel to highlight terroir typicity. Aging in oak barrels adds complexity while preserving natural elegance and structure. The reds offer intense black fruit, garrigue, and spice aromas with long, refined finishes, while the whites are fresh, nuanced, and expressive. A benchmark for fine Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Location
The grapes come from two complementary premium terroirs: on the commune of Sorgues, clay-limestone soils and marl-sandy subsoils provide volume and aromatic expression, while the higher-altitude terroir of the Domazan plain brings tension and minerality.
Terroir
Clay-limestone and marl-sandy soils offer both aromatic depth and structural balance.
In the vineyard
Vineyard practices include regular soil management, controlled yields, and sustainable farming methods tailored to each terroir. Harvesting is conducted either manually or mechanically depending on parcel and ripeness, ensuring optimal fruit integrity.
Winemaking
The grapes are gently pressed, and the must is cold-settled to remove impurities. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel vats, preserving the wine’s delicate floral and fruity aromatics.
Ageing
The wine is aged on fine lees for 6 months to enhance roundness and aromatic complexity.

Tasting
Brilliant golden reflections in the glass. The nose opens on bright citrus notes, mandarin and lemon zest followed by juicy white fruits such as pear and nectarine, delicately enhanced by floral touches of honeysuckle and lilac. The palate is fresh, zesty, and creamy, with citrus-driven tension that brings length and vibrancy.
Food pairings
This wine shines alongside a summery salad with mozzarella, olives, cherry tomatoes, and anchovies, or with a red onion tarte tatin topped with Parmesan crisps. For mains, pair with seafood or grilled fish. On the cheese board, try brie or herbed goat cheese. For dessert, opt for a lemon meringue tart or a frangipane-based treat.
