Location
The Domaine Pero Longo is located in southern Corsica, near the village of Sartène, close to the iconic Lion de Roccapina rock formation. Nestled between the sea and the maquis, the vineyard enjoys a dry Mediterranean climate, moderated by cool nighttime temperatures and marine breezes—ideal for a slow, balanced ripening. Farmed organically and biodynamically, the estate reflects a deep-rooted family tradition anchored in Corsican granite soils.
Terroir
The vines grow on poor, well-drained granitic soils, typical of the Sartène area. This unique geological profile imparts the wines with a vibrant minerality, crisp freshness, and precise aromatic expression. Terraced and hillside vineyards benefit from intense sunlight and moderate water stress, enhancing aromatic concentration and varietal identity.
In the vineyard
All vineyard work is manual, organic, and respectful of biodiversity. No herbicides or chemical inputs are used. Natural grass cover is controlled, and pruning and leaf-thinning are done by hand. Yields are deliberately low, to allow for a faithful expression of both grape variety and vintage. Biodynamic practices are followed, with lunar calendar guidance for key interventions.
Harvest
Grapes are hand-harvested early in the morning to preserve freshness. Sorting takes place in the vineyard and at the cellar, and picking is often done in two passes, ensuring optimal ripeness and balance. This attention to detail guarantees wines of tension, aromatic complexity, and finesse.
Winemaking
Grapes are directly and gently pressed, with no skin maceration. Fermentation is either spontaneous or carried out with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, to protect the purity of the grape’s aroma. No malolactic fermentation is performed, preserving the wine’s crisp natural acidity. No fining is used, and sulfur is applied minimally.
Ageing
The wine is aged for 6 to 9 months on fine lees, exclusively in stainless steel, with gentle lees stirring when needed. This allows for textural development without compromising freshness. Bottling is done with minimal filtration, preserving the wine’s vibrancy and aromatic clarity.

Tasting
Pale yellow color with silvery highlights. The nose is delicate and precise, offering aromas of Corsican wildflowers (immortelle, broom), fresh pear, lemon zest, and a touch of salinity. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, linear, and energetic, with a long, mineral-driven finish and a subtle iodine note. A dry white wine of authentic island character, both refreshing and terroir-driven.
Food pairings
This Lion de Roccapina white is a perfect match for island and seafood cuisine: grilled fish, fish soups, roasted langoustines with fennel, or salt-baked sea bass. It also pairs beautifully with vegetarian dishes such as chilled ratatouille, zucchini tian, or eggplant caviar with preserved lemon. For cheese, opt for fresh brocciu, Corsican goat cheese, or a raw milk semi-hard cheese.
