Presentation

Located in Roussillon, Château Planères is a family-run estate cultivating an exceptional terroir marked by clay-limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate—ideal for producing rich and elegant wines. The vineyard is managed using sustainable farming practices, with particular attention paid to expressing the character of the land. Traditional Roussillon grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre are vinified with precision to reveal their full aromatic complexity. The estate’s red wines offer deep aromas of dark fruits and spices, while the whites and rosés stand out for their freshness and finesse. Château Planères perfectly embodies the authenticity and richness of Roussillon wines.

Location

Located in Roussillon on well-exposed hillsides, the terroir of Château Planères consists of light, well-drained clay-limestone soils. The warm, dry Mediterranean climate promotes natural sugar concentration in the berries while preserving the Muscat’s aromatic freshness.

Terroir

Soil: Light clay-limestone
Topography: Hillsides with optimal sun exposure
Climate: Mediterranean, warm and dry

In the vineyard

The vineyard is cultivated sustainably, with controlled cover cropping and environmentally respectful soil management. Yields are deliberately low (around 25 to 30 hl/ha) to ensure excellent concentration. Grapes are harvested at peak aromatic maturity, often early in the morning to preserve freshness.

Harvest

Manual harvest at optimal ripeness, with careful selection to ensure purity and aromatic intensity.

Winemaking

Grapes are gently pressed. After cold settling, fermentation is halted by mutage on must, preserving the grape’s natural sugars. Vinification is carried out at low temperatures to retain Muscat’s primary aromas.

Ageing

The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for several months to preserve its freshness and aromatic brilliance. Bottled after clarification and stabilization.

On the palate, the attack is smooth and indulgent, balanced by lively freshness. The finish is long, aromatic, and refreshing.

Food pairings

This Muscat de Rivesaltes pairs beautifully with fruity desserts (apricot tart, fruit salad, sorbets), oriental pastries, and blue-veined cheeses (Roquefort, Bleu). It’s also delightful as an aperitif and complements foie gras or sweet-and-savory dishes with finesse.
