Presentation

Domaine Roger Belland, founded in 1839, is located in the heart of the village of Santenay, in the south of the Côte de Beaune. Roger Belland and his daughter Julie represent the fifth and sixth generations of Domaine Belland. Passionate about exceptional wines, they cultivate 23 hectares of vines, located on the finest terroirs of the 1st and grand crus of the villages of Maranges, Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard. The domaine's viticulture is sustainable and respectful of the environment.

Location

Parcels located at the foot of the slopes in Santenay, near Chassagne-Montrachet.

Terroir

Soil enriched by erosion (colluvium), composed of moderately deep, highly draining limestone.

In the vineyard

Guyot pruning with very early debudding and leaf removal (at the floral cap fall stage).

Harvest

100% manual harvest with rigorous sorting done directly in the vineyard.

Winemaking

Vinified with 60% whole bunches in a temperature-controlled stainless steel vat. Cold maceration lasts 3 to 4 days with gentle pump-overs to encourage yeast development. Alcoholic fermentation begins after a few days, with temperatures maintained between 16°C and 20°C. Once all sugars are consumed, maceration ends with a warm phase to fix the color and round the tannins.

Ageing

Aged for 12 months in 228L oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Malolactic fermentation occurs during barrel ageing.

Varietal

Pinot Noir : 100%
