Presentation

A jewel of Meursault, Domaine Albert Grivault is especially renowned for its legendary parcel “Clos des Perrières” considered one of the finest climats in the appellation. The estate is a must for lovers of great white Burgundy. Vineyard work is rigorous, ensuring grapes of the highest quality. In the cellar, vinification is meticulous, with barrel aging that enhances Chardonnay’s natural finesse without overpowering it. The wines are rich and layered, combining floral and white fruit aromas with signature Meursault minerality. With impressive aging potential, they embody the elegance and complexity of their prestigious origins.

Location

An exceptional terroir at the heart of “Les Perrières,” the Clos des Perrières is a recognized Premier Cru with its own AOP. Enclosed by its original stone wall and elegant gate, this monopole stands out due to its very stony nature and the specific composition of its clay-silt-sand soils (46% clay, 30% silt, 24% sand). Like Montrachet, it straddles both Bathonian Jurassic outcrops and colluvial deposits.

Terroir

A monopole of the estate covering 94 ares 52 centiares, re-planted in two stages (1986 and 1989). The vineyard yields approximately 5,000 bottles annually (average over 20 years). Ageing is done in oak barrels, around 20% new, and bottling occurs in August with sales starting the following January. Regularly awarded at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, this wine has demonstrated remarkable longevity and distinction. Notably, Michel Bettane described the 1988 vintage as “the most concentrated wine tasted in that vintage, still stern but with an aromatic pedigree truly reminiscent of Montrachet.”
