Presentation
Santenay’s Premier Crus, hailing from this southern Côte de Beaune village’s finest terroirs, are among the most affordable in Burgundy. These wines express perfectly the finest characteristics of the Pinot Noir grape in the region: freshness, expressive, straightforward fruit, and accessibility. They give immediate pleasure.
Terroir
The “Beauregard” climat is located to the north of the village of Santenay, at mid-slope, a plot that is known for producing profound, complex wines. The subsoil is primarily composed of limestone and optimal drainage contributes to highly concentrated grapes. From its position just above “Les Gravières”, “Beauregard” benefits from one of the best locations in the Santenay appellation with privileged exposure to the sun (eastsoutheast). Its higher altitude (260 to 300 metres) ensures slow but sure ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking
The grapes are almost entirely destemmed — with the exception of 15% whole clusters — and fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts. Vinification includes daily pump-overs during the early stages of maceration, followed by a few gentle punch-downs mid-fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 16.5 months, 25% of which are new barrels sourced from the forests of Central France.

Tasting
Beautiful cherry-red colour with deep bluish highlights. The nose is fresh and airy, revealing aromas of strawberry and cherry, with a subtle, indulgent, slightly creamy note. Hints of cedar wood bring freshness and finesse, mingling with more complex nuances of dark chocolate for added elegance. On the palate, the wine is ample, full and generous, supported by fine-grained tannins and a lively acidity that lends vibrancy. The finish lingers beautifully on a ripe cherry note.
Food pairings
Superb with salmon tartar with pink berries, flambéed prawns or cod with sweet spices.
