Presentation
Located North of Pommard, on the border with Beaune. It gives to this Pommard a bouquet and delicate touch that reminds of Beaune wines. It is the finest Premier Cru of Pommard which often gives graceful wines, paradoxically closer to Volnay even though it is located on the other side of the village. The name comes from the old French "Poizerolles" around the 12th century which meant chickpea; It is likely that this vegetable was grown next to the vine.
Terroir
Mid-slope, the clay-limestone soils are well drained thanks to the inclusion of rock debris. Higher still are Jurassic (Oxfordian) marls, brown calcic soils, and brown limestone soils. In places, the soil is reddened by the presence of iron.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. They were carefully sorted and fully destemmed. A cold pre-fermentation maceration was initiated and lasted 8 days, before the start of alcoholic fermentation, during which the temperature of the must rose to a maximum of 30°C (86°F). During the first week of fermentation, gentle daily punch-downs by foot were performed. The wine was then aged for 11 months in new oak barrels, before being racked and completing its ageing in second-fill barrels. The total ageing period lasts 16 months.

Tasting
Beautiful deep garnet-red hue with vivid ruby highlights. The wine displays remarkable consistency. The nose, of great finesse, reveals a warm and refined character. It opens with notes of fresh raspberry and peppermint, soon enriched by a gourmet touch reminiscent of fine pastry (caramel, clafoutis, caramelized apple). Delicate floral hints emerge alongside a very subtle oakiness, evoking cedar and wild cherry wood. The attack on the palate is smooth, silky and impressively fresh. It stands out for its complexity and delicacy. Flavours of cherry and raspberry unfold gracefully, lifted by an elegant note of cigar. Perfectly ripe tannins lend fine length. A wine of remarkable finesse and complexity.
