Presentation

The Domaine Charton, located in Burgundy, has been cultivating vines in Mercurey since 1941. Deeply attached to the notion of terroir, it produces wines with unique characteristics, reflecting the typicality of their "Climats". The love of the vine and the wine is passed down from father to son within the family. Grandson of the founder, Vincent is now at the head of the family estate, supported and advised by his father Jean-Pierre. The estate operates 11.50 hectares of vineyards located on excellent terroirs of the Mercurey appellation, in the Côte Chalonnaise.

Tasting

"Les Chaumes" offers a pure, radiant expression of Chardonnay, showcasing classic Burgundian character. Its bright light gold robe sets the tone. The nose opens with aromas of white-fleshed fruit (apple, pear), citrus, and white flowers, accented by a hint of fresh almond. On the palate, it strikes a harmonious balance between liveliness and roundness: smooth texture, refreshing acidity, and a clean, slightly saline finish. A precise, approachable wine that combines indulgence with clarity.

Food pairings

This Chardonnay pairs gracefully with light, flavorful dishes. Perfect with sea bass carpaccio with lime, herb-marinated shrimp salad, or cold chicken in lemon cream sauce. For vegetarian options, try it with crunchy vegetable tabbouleh, zucchini gratin with fresh goat cheese, or a savory onion and thyme tart. Ideal served at 10–12°C, whether as an aperitif or at the table.
