Frédéric Magnien
Frédéric Magnien
In Morey-Saint-Denis, Frédéric Magnien represents a new generation of Burgundian winemakers driven by a desire to explore terroir with a fresh perspective. Coming from a long-established winemaking family, he founded his own domaine in the 1990s.
Today, he works a mosaic of parcels across several prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits, including Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée, with a number of Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites.
What sets Frédéric Magnien apart is his almost exploratory approach to Burgundy’s vineyards. By vinifying a wide range of climats, he highlights how even a few meters of soil or a slight change in exposure can transform the expression of a wine.
In the cellar, part of the ageing takes place in terracotta amphorae, chosen to preserve the purity of the fruit and the clarity of the terroir.
The wines stand out for their precision, energy and remarkable transparency, offering a particularly refined reading of the terroirs of the Côte de Nuits.
