Famille Cordier

Based in Fuissé since 1945, the Cordier family is now led by Christophe Cordier, who took over the estate in the late 1980s and steered it toward a far more ambitious interpretation of Mâconnais terroirs. The vineyard today covers around 30 to 31.5 hectares, spread across more than 100 individual parcels in several villages, providing a remarkably diverse foundation for exploring the nuances of southern Burgundy.

What truly sets the Cordier wines apart is their ability to bring depth and dimension to Chardonnay without locking it into a single stylistic frame. The range draws from a mosaic of terroirs across Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran or Viré-Clessé, with a strong parcel-driven approach aimed at expressing the precise identity of each site. The wines stand out for their intensity, layered texture and a palpable sense of energy, driven more by the expression of the soil than by immediate appeal.

Another defining feature lies in the élevage, which is both extended and carefully calibrated, supported by a winemaking setup designed for precision. This level of attention results in whites with real presence, broad yet structured, capable of combining ripeness, tension and length. More than just a Mâconnais estate, the Cordier family now represents a distinctly assertive vision of great white wines from southern Burgundy.
