Presentation

Domaine Roger Belland, founded in 1839, is located in the heart of the village of Santenay, in the south of the Côte de Beaune. Roger Belland and his daughter Julie represent the fifth and sixth generations of Domaine Belland. Passionate about exceptional wines, they cultivate 23 hectares of vines, located on the finest terroirs of the 1st and grand crus of the villages of Maranges, Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard. The domaine's viticulture is sustainable and respectful of the environment.

Location

Parcels located on the upper slopes of Santenay, over 350 meters in altitude, at the edge of the forest.

Terroir

Shallow, stony limestone soils.

In the vineyard

Guyot pruning with very early debudding and leaf removal (at the floral cap fall stage).

Harvest

100% manual harvest with meticulous sorting carried out in the vineyard.

Winemaking

Whole-cluster pressing with light crushing. Long, gentle pressing using a pneumatic press. Juice settling for 24 to 48 hours. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in barrels. The wine is aged on lees with occasional bâtonnage between the two fermentations. Filtered and bottled at the estate.

Ageing

Aged for 12 months in 228L oak barrels with no new oak. Malolactic fermentation occurs during barrel ageing.

Tasting
