Presentation

Saint-Émilion’s history is deeply rooted in religion, beginning with the arrival of the monk Émilion in the late 8th century AD. Originally from Vannes, he settled there as a hermit. After his death, religious life flourished, with the establishment of numerous convents and churches.
Thus, in the Middle Ages, Cistercian monks established a priory at this site, which they named “A La Grâce de Dieu.” This priory, which no longer exists, gave its name to Château La Grâce Dieu.
