Presentation
Located on the outskirts of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, and with a history dating back to 1632, the Lynch-Bages vineyard stretches over a beautiful gravelly hilltop. Formerly owned by the illustrious Lynch family, of Irish descent, the estate was given a new dimension in the 18th century.
Château Lynch-Bages displays textbook Pauillac style with distinctive hedonistic character. With generous aromas in its youth, the wine develops additional layers of complexity with the ageing process.
Terroir
Extending over some 100 hectares in the municipality of Pauillac, the Lynch-Bages vineyard rests entirely on the preferred soil of great wines, formed along the estuary by the gravel alluvium of the Médoc. The property occupies the well-defined slopes located to the south and southwest of the town. Lynch-Bages soils are homogeneous, mainly composed of Garonne gravel from the Günz (early Quaternary) resulting from the slow erosion of the Pyrenees by the Garonne. Very draining and low in silt, these stony and sandy soils accumulate heat during the day to release it better at night. Poor and infertile, they allow moderate vine growth and promote deep rooting.
Harvest
Meticulous and selective harvesting ensured that only the healthiest, perfectly ripe grapes were brought in. The 2024 vintage, despite its challenges, has given rise to fresh, balanced, and elegant wines. Their harmony and finesse reflect the classic equilibrium of Bordeaux, offering a pure expression of the terroir and a promising future.
