Château Larcis Ducasse 2025
Presentation
A short distance from the village of St-Emilion, Larcis Ducasse is a hillside vineyard, precisely at the heart of the Grande Côte,
on the Côte Pavie.
Larcis Ducasse’s plots form a huge natural south-facing staircase, a “millefeuille” of different clay and limestone soils distinguished by the presence of natural springs that originate beneath the limestone in the blue clay...
Dryness and humidity coexist here, with a permanent contrast between the bright south-facing slopes and the enduring freshness of the clay-limestone, from which the vines draw their energy.
Terroir
The vineyard of Château Larcis Ducasse, although consisting of a single block of 11.34 hectares, is planted on several geological formations. The typicality of the terroir lies in the presence of limestone clays on south-facing slopes that provide very beautiful ripeness. Freshness and minerality, complexity and structure are brought by the different mother rock variations ranging from limestone with starfish fossils from the plateau to the feldspathic sands, rich in iron, at the bottom of the slope. Such a range of terroirs, combined with grape varieties, gives rise to expressions that are as diverse as they are complementary. This diversity nourishes the complexity and nobility of the wines produced at Château Larcis Ducasse.

Tasting
« A Merlot-heavy blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 Château Larcis Ducasse sports a dense purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of ripe currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with smoky tobacco, graphite, and crushed stone. Aged in a mix of 225- liter barriques (45%), 500-liter demi-muids (40%), and foudres (15%), it checks in at 13.8% alcohol with a pH of 3.5. Deep, rich, and full-bodied on the palate, it has a broad, layered mouthfeel, ripe, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It might end up being in the top handful of wines in the vintage. » Jeb Dunnuck
