Angelus 2025 Etiquette Château Angelus

Château Angélus 2025

Presentation

Raised to the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé, recognized worldwide as one of the flagship estates of Saint-Emilion, Château Angélus reflects the deep attachment of a family to exalt the essence of a terroir.

Terroir

At Château Angélus, the vineyard is located in a circus, on the south-facing slope and foot of the slope of Saint-Emilion, which concentrates hot temperatures in the summer, and increases precocity. The soil is naturally drained by the slope. The good distribution between clay and limestone allows for a regular supply of water and minerals. The percentage of clay, measured between 8 and 20%, makes these soils warm and precocious places. The rootstocks are perfectly adapted to the terroir and the grape varieties are distributed according to the soils: merlots on the slope (more clayey) and cabernet francs on the sandy-clay-limestone soils of the foot of the slope.

Winemaking

The fermentation takes place in stainless steel, concrete, and wooden tanks with a temperature regulation system (28 to 32 °C). The maceration lasts 2 to 4 weeks.

Ageing

22 months in new French oak barrels (Merlot and a part of Cabernet Franc) and in 30hl casks (Cabernet Franc).

Tasting

The skins, with their infinitely deep purple colour, have resulted in a complex, aromatic and distinguished nose: a myriad of flowers, spices and crunchy black fruit, the hallmark of the very greatest Cabernet Franc wines. The smooth and opulent tannins with a cashmere texture, underpinned by the energy of the Merlot that is so typical of this vintage, offer a clean attack on the palate, velvety smoothness and a finish that seems to last forever.
