Presentation

Alliance of a unique terroir and a symbiotic grape variety, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, Château Cheval Blanc produces a wine whose rare ability is to be good at any age. This subtle combination gives Cheval Blanc its very particular touch, made of power and elegance. When evoking it, one sometimes speaks of absolute art.

Terroir

The mosaic terroir of Cheval Blanc, made of clay, sand, and gravel, is unique. Two good fairies have watched over its cradle: Pomerol and Saint Emilion. Soils and subsoils, configuration, sedimentation, water and mineral deficiency, everything here combines to achieve the required concentration and influence aging. A very ancient history dating back to the Quaternary and the sediments of the nearby Isle. A geological union for an exceptional wine because the quality of the soil determines the success of the grape variety. At Cheval Blanc, the combination of a very high-quality terroir and an original grape variety gives its production a unique organoleptic personality.

Winemaking

The main principles of winemaking at Cheval Blanc are based on the fresh maturation of the grapes, pure parcel vinification, indigenous yeasts (selected on the estate), gentle extraction, long maceration, manual punch-downs, and only one rack-and-return during the 4-week cuvaison. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks, and then the wines are aged in barrels.

Ageing

18 months in barrels (100% new) - Egg white fining.

Tasting

The water stress of 2025 reduced volumes, but it built substance. The balances are precise, the concentration is remarkable: we find all the markers of a very great Cheval Blanc. While the old Cabernet Franc plots contributed to the power and concentration, the young vines were decisive in the freshness and brilliance of the vintage. Faced with increasingly frequent climatic extremes, this vintage confirms the agronomic choices made to strengthen the resilience of our vineyard." - Pierre-Olivier Clouet.
