Seña 'Rocas de Seña' Colchagua Valley Rouge 2022

Presentation

Rocas de Seña takes its name from the rocky soils of the Aconcagua Valley, paying tribute to its geography. These soils impart unique characteristics to the wine, and the large volcanic rocks recall the holistic landscape of the vineyard. The launch of Seña's second wine aims to continue exploring the terroir expression with a unique blend of selected parcels from the Seña vineyard and the addition of Mediterranean varieties that thrive in the Aconcagua Valley to offer youthful elegance and freshness.

Terroir

The Seña vineyard covers 42 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Syrah. The soils extend across the slopes of the valley and are extremely diverse. The climate is slightly cooler than traditional regions that produce Chilean red wines, but warm enough for the grapes to reach an excellent level of maturity. Harvesting takes place on average 2 weeks later compared to vineyards located further inside the valley.

Ageing

18 months in French barrels (100%).

Varietals

Malbec : 33%
Syrah : 25%
Cabernet-sauvignon : 21%
Petit verdot : 9%
Mourvèdre : 7%
Grenache noir : 5%

Tasting

Bright ruby red, with violet hues. On the nose, it is expressive and pure, revealing aromas of fresh fruits (cranberries, blueberries), rosemary, dill, and light nutmeg notes. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with a savory character and a fine, lingering finish.
