Les Tourelles de Longueville Pauillac Rouge 2017

Presentation

The style of Tourelles de Longueville combines the character of the Pichon Baron terroir and the elegance of the grape varieties. The terroir of Sainte Anne, 14 hectares, ensures the production of Tourelles de Longueville. This wine, made from a selection of plots mostly planted with Merlot, thus has its own personality.

Terroir

Overlooking the Latour vineyard, the 73 hectares of the Domaine de Pichon Baron extend over very high-quality gravelly soils. This unique land, low in nutrients and not excessively watered, sparingly nourishes old vine stocks, producing grapes that are rare but exceptionally noble. This terroir is capable of producing extraordinary wines, which the property strives to do with excellence and consistency, respecting the original history of this vineyard. Comprising 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the vast Pichon Baron vineyard has been meticulously divided into plots. The 40-hectare great terroir of the Pichon Baron hill is solely dedicated to the production of the Grand Vin and now represents the majority of its blend.

Tasting

The Tourelles de Longueville 2017 reveals a very beautiful dark ruby color. The expression is rather mineral at first nose, then more fruity at the second nose to highlight very ripe red fruits such as black cherry and cranberries. The attack is quickly in place on a present, integrated and persistent structure. The tannins are precise and stretched.
