Presentation
At Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, traditional methods and technology complement each other to express and reveal the unique character of this prestigious terroir.
The vintage
2025, vintage of a historic drought, was born from the abundance of 2024. A year of absolute contrasts, where the vine, drawing from the reserves of a past vintage, offers us a masterful lesson in adaptation and balance.
Terroir
Close to the river, the 92 hectares of vineyards cross the jalle of Saint-Julien to get closer to the plateau of Léoville, before extending over the great plateau of Pichon Longueville to the south of the Pauillac appellation. The exceptional richness of the Pauillac appellation is the result of a poor and stingy soil. The slopes are made up of gravel on clays, a composition that promotes excellent drainage. It is these gravels from the quaternary era, known as Garonne gravels, especially those of the Günzian layer, the oldest and highest topographically, that explain the quality of the best vineyards in the Haut-Médoc.
Winemaking
Parcel vinification with gravity filling. Fermentation in stainless steel truncated cone tanks with double thermoregulated walls.
Ageing
Aged for 18 months in barrels, 65% of which are new wood, with a long and medium toast. Traditional racking by gravity and fining with egg whites.

Tasting
The pleasure of getting lost in such complex fragrances... The blackberry and blackcurrant, obvious at first, give way to earthy violet, then to the Pauillac expression of dark tobacco and black tea leaves. What a heady and overwhelming development! We are immersed in the perfumer's workshop, between top notes and heart notes... The palate is vibrant, but also soft and stretched. The serene length of these tannins made of cashmere weaves endlessly, confident, sure of themselves, navigating between Pauillac nobility and elegant sensuality fit for a Countess.
