Presentation

Benefiting from the same care as the 1st wine, it is made from young vines. Folie is characterized by its roundness and elegance as well as its lovely fruit notes. More quickly accessible than Château Chauvin, Folie is above all a wine of pleasure and indulgence!

Location

The Château Chauvin is located in the northwest of the town of Saint-Émilion, halfway between Cheval-Blanc and the Butte de Rol, near the Pomerol appellation.

Terroir

The terroir of Chauvin is clay-sandy type, it benefits from the presence of pseudogley and an iron crust similar to that of some Pomerol terroirs. Thanks to its low water retention capacity, the soil quickly experiences water stress, allowing the grapes to ripen more quickly.

Ageing

Aging in barrels for 14 to 16 months.

Varietals

Merlot : 95%
Cabernet sauvignon : 5%

Specifications

Surface area of the vineyard : 15 ha
Age of vines : 30 years old

Tasting

A juicy and fruity red wine, with aromas of blackberry, chocolate, and nuts. Notes of coffee can also be detected. It is a medium-bodied wine, with firm and refined tannins, and a nice finish." - James Suckling.
