Presentation
Les Tourelles de Pichon Baron is one of the second wines of the property. Named after the turrets that embellish the château, it embodies the charm of the estate. Historically known as Les Tourelles de Longueville, it has been renamed Les Tourelles de Pichon Baron since the 2023 vintage. The grapes that are used to blend the wine come essentially from the Sainte Anne plot, planted mainly to Merlot, giving to it a distinctive personality. Les Tourelles de Pichon Baron is an invitation to enter a world of flavour, charm, roundness and sensual delight. This wine provides an introduction to the spirit of Pichon Baron and can be enjoyed young or aged in the cellar for 15 years or more.
Terroir
Overlooking the Latour vineyard, the 73 hectares of the Domaine de Pichon Baron extend over very high-quality gravelly soils. This unique land, low in nutrients and not overly watered, sparingly nourishes old vine stocks, producing grapes that are rare but exceptionally noble. This terroir is capable of producing extraordinary wines, which the estate strives to do with excellence and consistency while respecting the original history of this vineyard. Comprising 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the extensive Pichon Baron vineyard has been meticulously divided into plots. The 40-hectare grand terroir of the Pichon Baron hill is solely dedicated to the production of the Grand Vin and now represents the majority of its blend.
