Presentation

The wines of Chasse-Spleen reflect the diversity of the terroirs of its appellation: the freshness and minerality of Cabernet Sauvignon and the roundness and smoothness of Merlot. Chasse Spleen is elevated to the rank of Exceptional Grand Cru with only five other châteaux.

Terroir

The vineyard, covering an area of 80 hectares, is located at the highest point of the slopes of Grand-Poujeaux. The soil consists of 80% Garonne gravel on a limestone substrate with asteria. The remaining 20% is clay-limestone. The grape varieties planted are 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. The average age of the vineyard is 30 years. The farming method is traditional (earthing up, earthing down), and the harvest is done by hand. The terroir of Chasse-Spleen allows for the production of well-structured and characterful wines, with good aging potential. The farming practices at Chasse-Spleen are conventional.
