Presentation
Since the Middle Ages, the lion, the symbol of the Duchy of Aquitaine, has been the “guardian of the ocean” by virtue of its gaze towards the Atlantic. It is a reference to the emblem of Richard the Lionheart, son of Aliénor of Aquitaine, who, in the late 12th century, was the most powerful of English Kings and Dukes of Aquitaine.
The wavy lines of the lion’s mane represent the paths of the five main rivers that flow through our region, from the mountains to the ocean: Adour, Charente, Dordogne, Garonne and Vienne…
The tributaries of these rivers, called ESTEY in Gascon, were notably at the roots of the essential trades that came into being (salt, wine and cereals).. Estey offers a range of 3 arrays in order to respond to each costumer’s needs according to their moment of consumption, their expertise and their taste research.
