Presentation

Petit Verdot is a typical grape variety from the Medoc region, used in the blend of most of the Grands Crus Classés.
Grown since the Middle-Age in this vineyard, Petit Verdot totally disappeared after the terrible Phylloxera crisis in the 19th century and was was gradually reintroduced a few decades ago.
Very delicate to cultivate, this grape variety is still rarely planted. Indeed, it reaches its maturity very late (this is why it is named "Petit Verdot" : which means small grapes that stay green for a long time) and when the grapes are ripe they must be harvested immediately because the vine wood tends to rot quickly, which requires constant monitoring.
However, Petit Verdot offers many advantages, it gives to the wine complexity, a great tannic structure, an intense color and a good ageing potential, very appreciated to produce great wines.
As single-variety, this cuvée 100% Petit Verdot is surprisingly fresh, spicy and tasty with a strong personnality.
