Presentation
Located just to the west of Meursault, at a slightly higher altitude, the village of Saint-Romain produces affordable wines that express all of the characteristics of the great white wines of the Côte de Beaune, renowned for being the world’s most prized region for the production of Chardonnay. Our Saint-Romain offers an introduction to the white terroirs of the Côte de Beaune..
Terroir
This cuvée hails from the “En Poillange” and “La Périère” plots, located in the southern part of the appellation and facing due east, which allows the grapes to ripen well. The plots’ high altitude (between 320 and 360 metres) lends the wine considerable freshness. The marl and limestone subsoil contains some layers of clay, lending minerality to the wine.
Winemaking
The grapes were gently pressed as whole clusters and the musts were clarified at low temperature. Alcoholic fermentation took place in oak barrels over about fifteen days with regular stirring of the lees. The ageing, lasting a total of ten months, was carried out in barrels of one and two previous uses.

Tasting
Beautiful pale golden colour, bright. The nose is highly expressive, marked by an intense floral character (white flowers such as acacia and linden), combined with a fruity profile of redcurrant and gooseberry, lifted by a pronounced freshness with menthol and pine sap nuances. The palate opens with a round and broad attack, supported by a fine acidity that brings great freshness. The finish echoes these flavours, revealing notes of gooseberry and mirabelle plum, adding brightness and persistence. A precise, fresh and expressive wine.
Food pairings
Ideal with seafood, steamed fish or fresh goat’s cheese, highlighting its freshness, vibrancy and fruit expression.
