Boisrenard rg 2022

Domaine de Beaurenard, Le Boisrenard, Le Boisrenard, , , 2022

Presentation

Domaine de Beaurenard, property of the Coulon family, affirms its singularity within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation through the diversity of its soils, its culture of complanted grape varieties, and its biodynamic farming.
“Le Boisrenard” is made from a selection of old vines where the 13 grape varieties are planted together. A wine of great depth.

The vintage

The 2021 vintage is once again characterized by a very mild winter, leading to early bud bursting, with serious consequences. Indeed, during the night of April 7 to 8, a terrible episode of spring frost shook France. Temperatures dropped sharply to -4.5°C on our Rasteau vines. The loss of harvest will be significant. Strong fortunately, our practices of soft pruning, late pruning as well as the application of Valerian allowed us to contain the damage.
The season was punctuated by many meticulous treatments. He us had to accompany the vine in its growth this year while keeping the strategic shoots for the 2022 season. The summer was hot, without excessive temperature and with cool nights. A few rains came to punctuate it,
leading to a very promising maturation of all our plots.
The harvest took place at the estate from September 7 to October 8, out of 26 harvest days. Although nearly 300mm of rain and thunderstorms marked the period, our grapes reached great maturity. Our old cups once again demonstrated their relevance. With high feet, presenting smaller and more airy bunches, the grapes were less exposed to humidity and its consequences. This allowed us to wait for maturity optimum from each parcel and to pick very healthy grapes, of great quality, throughout the harvest.

"” A smaller production release that's based largely on a field
blend, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard sees a touch
of stems and is aged mostly in foudre, with a tiny 2% in new
oak. One of the deeper hued, richer, more structured and serious
wines in the vintage, it has an absolutely gorgeous perfume of
blackberries, sappy garrigue, spring flowers, graphite, and
crushed stone. It's not massive by any means and shows the
more linear style of the 2021 vintage, yet it has a great mid
palate, clean, vibrant acidity, ripe tannins, and a great finish.
It's a brilliant bottle of wine that will benefit from 2-3 years of
bottle age and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face over the
following decade or more. ”

"”Very dark, dense and bold, this is very tannic indeed. There's
concentration here, and it should become good in time, after a
long wait. The acidity is lower than most 2021s, but the tannins
have finesse.”

" “Deep, brooding ruby. Very youthful with extremely tight-knit
tannins. Good concentration of dark fruits, violet and spice with
floral notes and blackcurrant. A layered finish. Very well-judged
acidity and alcohol. Balanced, fine and elegant.”
