Famille Bruno Lafon, Le Fruit Défendu, Rosé, 2023

“Vine growing and wine are in my blood. With my native Burgundian background, Magellan was an opportunity to write my own story. The Languedoc offers new terroirs, grape varieties and challenges. Now after 20 years of living the land, I relish each new vintage and in doing so have been privileged to now make wines that I enjoy, mirroring both my culture and second home”. Bruno Lafon

Presentation

Presentation
Bruno uses only certified organic and/or sustainably farmed fruit and production practices to handcraft the finest environmentally sensitive wines. The wine’s name Le Fruit Défendu, literally the Forbidden Fruit in French, is a reflection of both the Story of Creation and the new “Garden of Eden”.
Location
For this wine, the fruit was meticulously chosen from Grenache Noir and Cinsault vineyards that are known for early ripening and developing ripe flavors at lower sugar levels. In the winery, the fruit undergoes a gentle fermentation process at cool temperatures. This approach is aimed at preserving vibrant aromatics and fresh fruit tastes, while maintaining a full-bodied palate, rich texture, and lasting finish.
Winemaking
Traditional winemaking process in stainless vessels with careful temperature control to protect the natural fruit flavors, typical of both varieties. Direct pressing and stalk removal.

Tasting
This beautiful pale-pink color blend is a refreshing and well-balanced rosé. It smells light and fresh right off the bat, with intense notes of wild strawberries, white peach and just a touch of white chocolate. The crisp palate offers enough acidity to lift the ripe peach, melon and red currant flavors, with a gentle citrus rind pithiness on the close, finishing snappy and fresh. It's well balanced and easy to like.

Reviews

"It’s stunning. Great aromatics. Lovely flavors of raspberry and strawberry, some soft spice. It’s got a hint of garrigue, and a long, lingering refreshing finish."
