Presentation
Nestled in the heart of Bordeaux’s vineyards, near Lussac Saint-Émilion, Pavillon La Rulotte is the fruit of authentic craftsmanship and a generous land. This Bordeaux red embodies both elegance and conviviality, offering a refined yet accessible wine, true to the tradition of the region’s great wines.
The vintage
This vintage is exceptional. Despite the high summer temperatures and low rainfall, the harvest was of high quality and produced wines that are both sun-kissed and delicate.
Terroir
The plots are located nearby Lussac, a few miles away from Saint-Emilion, over 46 hectares of vines. The terroir, primarily limestone, is complemented by some clayey areas. The vines are planted at the top of the La Rulotte plateau, benefiting from optimal exposure, guaranteeing the grapes a perfect balance between sunshine and ventilation, for slow and even ripening. The estate’s vineyards are planted with a classic Bordeaux blend: 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.
In the vineyard
With an average vine age of 23 years, the estate employs a double Guyot pruning, enhancing vine health and grape quality. Sustainability is at the core of vineyard management. Since 2019, Pavillon la Rulotte has been HVE3 certified. This commitment is reflected in rigorous farming practices, including the installation of birdhouses to increase biodiversity.
Winemaking
Traditional winemaking with controlled temperatures. Rackings are carried out to optimize and enhance the extraction of fruit, color, richness, and roundness of the wine.
Ageing
Ageing in concrete tanks helps to preserve the freshness of the wine and the expression of the fruit.
