Established in 1960, this 60-hectare family estate is located in the heart of the Cairanne appellation. At just 17, Marcel took over his parents' legacy, leaving the cooperative to follow his own creative vision. Today, he runs the domaine with the help of his son, Thomas, and daughter, Claire. In the 1980s, Marcel expanded the estate by acquiring 3 hectares on the Ebrescade terroir, where old vines are planted on sediment, marl, and small stones from the Rasteau Massif at 250 meters in altitude. Terroir
These vines are planted mainly on the sandy soils of the northwestern slopes of the vineyard.
In the vineyard
The average age of these vines are between 20 to 40 years, with an average yield of 20hl/ha for this vintage. The harvest is made in open crates of 200Kg in order to not alter the grape.
Winemaking
Pre-fermentation maceration in open crates in a cold room for 12 hours before pressing. Long pressing from 5 to 7 hours and separation of the last juices. The Cairanne Blanc is fermented for one month in concrete vats at low temperatures (between 18°and 22°C). Slow fermentations at low temperatures has the advantage of preserving as much as possible the finest aromas and producing fine glycerol, which brings the desired complexity.
Ageing
