Château Clarettes is a long-standing anchor on the Arcs-sur-Argens terroir and has reborn from its ashes like Phoenix in recent years. It’s undergoing a complete renovation — with even more improvements to come — made possible by the will of wine enthusiasts Seligsons from Finland, who took over this vineyard in 2012. This historic estate is taking a page from nearby Bandol, utilizing a high proportion of Mourvèdre in its rosés.
Presentation
Presentation
When you visit the winery, the Seligsons want you to have the most therapeutic experience. Surrounded by panoramic views of the vineyards and nestled in an oak forest, this is perfect therapy, conjuring up the name of this soothing bottling.
In the vineyard
No more weed-killer: in recent years, Château Clarettes is back to the sources of natural agriculture. Faithful to its philosophy that is resolutely turned towards sustainable development, the estate uses the services of “garden sheep”: animals work in late winter to clean the plots and, at the same time, produce natural organic amendment.
Winemaking
Harvested at sunrise. Destemmed and slightly crushed at cold temps to avoid oxidation. Both the free run and pressed juices are transferred to stainless vessels where fermentation is started and held at strictly controlled temperatures in state-of-the-art gravity-fed cellar.

Tasting
This rosé has Mourvèdre as well as Cinsault in the blend. It is rich, rounded, although also attractively lifted by plenty of acidity. Ripe red berries lifted by orange zest and acidity give a bright aftertaste. This juicy, refreshing wine is ready to drink with any type of light summer and finger foods.
Reviews
It has to be one of the best rosé finds (and values) of the year."
