“Vine growing and wine are in my blood. With my native Burgundian background, Magellan was an opportunity to write my own story. The Languedoc offers new terroirs, grape varieties and challenges. Now after 20 years of living the land, I relish each new vintage and in doing so have been privileged to now make wines that I enjoy, mirroring both my culture and second home”. Bruno Lafon
Presentation
Presentation
Bruno uses only certified organic and/or sustainably farmed fruit and production practices to handcraft the finest environmentally sensitive wines. The wine’s name Le Fruit Défendu, literally the Forbidden Fruit in French, is a reflection of both the Story of Creation and the new “Garden of Eden”. The status of organic products and eco-friendly wines have both been categorized at times, as being only for the hobbyist. However, like Eve in the Garden, once tasted, a new empowerment is realized.
Location
Mediterranean grapes like Grenache Blanc, Colombard, and, to a lesser extent, Muscat, which ripen later, are ideally suited to the sunny climate and warm, infertile soils of the Languedoc region. These grapes are sourced from the abundant calcareous clay terrains found in the vineyards Bruno sources his grapes from.
Winemaking
Night-time manual harvesting and gentle pressing. No oak treatment.

Tasting
Lifted notes of citrus are the key words to describe the nose and flavor of this extremely aromatic
white blend offering notes of honeysuckle and honeydew. Winemakers often turn the grape
Muscat Petit Grain into a sweet, dessert-style wine, but this shows how good it can be in a
completely zesty and dry version. The herby lemon aromas are filled out on the palate with
grapefruit, a hint of pineapple and orange peel.

Reviews
"Rich, fresh and sublimely delicious. A blend of tropical Muscat Petits Grains freshened-up with Grenache Blanc. Dangerously moreish."
