La famille Duclaux est l’une des plus anciennes familles de Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cette famille constitua son domaine au fil des ans et compte parmi les premiers fondateurs du syndicat de défense de l’appellation en 1904. Au cours des siècles, les familles Duclaux et Quiot ont tissé des liens. Le Domaine Duclaux, en tant que domaine historique de l'appellation, produit des vins dans la lignée des Châteauneuf-du-Pape traditionnels : puissants, élégants et structurés. Afin de maximiser le potentiel de nos terroirs pour notre Duclaux rouge, nous avons choisi de procéder à un élevage sous bois. Ce qui est typique de ce vin est son encépagement élevé en Mourvèdre qui lui donne son côté épicé.
Terroir
Sols principalement composés de sables fluviatiles et galets roulés. Des terroirs d'alluvions, de sables et de cailloux dans le bas du vignoble et des sols argilo-calcaires sur les pentes.
Vinification
Égrappage et préassemblage des cépages en cuves béton. Cuvaison : 3 à 4 semaines. Élevage de 24 mois en cuve environ et une partie en barriques de chêne.

Dégustation
Robe rouge grenat profond. Nez très fruité et concentré en fruits rouges, cuir et réglisse. Marqué par les épices. Grande complexité et puissance en bouche. Excellente persistance. Vin avec un bon potentiel de garde. Sur des vieux millésimes, notre Duclaux rouge évolue, se compote et les épices s'adoucissent.

Viandes rouges, gibiers, civets, plats épicés et fromages. Bon potentiel de conservation.

It reveals notes of blackberry and iris associated with fine touches of cassis as well as hints of incense, truffle / undergrowth, tobacco and an imperceptible hint of Sichuan pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, slightly tight and offers a good definition, a fine / beautiful suavity, a beautiful juiciness, roundness, precision as well as elegance. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy black cherry and small notes of fleshy blackberry, graphite, spices as well as discreet hints of scrubland / roasted thyme, undergrowth / mushroom and a very discreet hint of leather.
