Jean-Paul Brun

A leading figure in modern Beaujolais, Jean-Paul Brun is widely recognized for his commitment to crafting authentic wines that faithfully reflect their grape variety and terroir. In 1979, he founded Domaine des Terres Dorées in Charnay, at the heart of southern Beaujolais, starting with just 4 hectares of vines. A visionary and pioneer, he has spent more than four decades demonstrating the elegance, complexity, and ageing potential of Beaujolais wines.

At a time when many producers favored highly technical winemaking methods, Jean-Paul Brun chose a different path, inspired by Burgundy traditions. His philosophy focuses on ripe fruit, terroir expression, indigenous yeast fermentations, and minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing each wine to reveal its true character.

Under his leadership, Domaine des Terres Dorées has grown to nearly 60 hectares across several renowned appellations, including Fleurie, Morgon, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Moulin-à-Vent, and Beaujolais. His wines are celebrated for their freshness, balance, purity of fruit, and remarkable sense of place.

Through every cuvée, Jean-Paul Brun champions a sincere and demanding vision of winemaking, producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that have helped redefine the image of Beaujolais around the world.
