Domaine Beaufumé
Domaine Beaufumé is located in Lignorelles, in the northern part of the Chablis region, among limestone plateaus and wind-swept slopes where Chardonnay finds one of its purest expressions. The Beaufumé family has cultivated vines here for several generations, with the quiet dedication often found among Chablis winegrowers, where actions speak louder than words.
For many years, the estate delivered its entire harvest to La Chablisienne cooperative. Then, in 2014, Bernard and Valérie Beaufumé took an important step forward by deciding to vinify and market their own wines. This marked a defining moment for the estate, driven by the desire to express their own interpretation of the terroirs of Lignorelles and Villy. Today, this transition gives rise to wines that are precise, authentic and deeply rooted in their origin.
The vineyard covers around 18 hectares, spread across Petit Chablis and Chablis appellations on parcels located around Lignorelles and Villy. The clay-limestone soils of Chablis, shaped by Kimmeridgian geology, give the Chardonnay its distinctive saline tension, purity and minerality. Certified HVE Level 3 since 2021, the estate carefully manages its vineyards through soil ploughing and a thoughtful approach to vineyard balance. In the cellar, ageing remains restrained in order to preserve fruit brightness, crystalline freshness and aromatic precision. The result is a clear, sincere and elegant signature, true to the spirit of Chablis.
